The Philosophy of a Break unBlogged

Christmas break has come and gone and my second semester of torture..ahem..I mean law school has begun. I honestly thought I would write a bunch of blog posts while I was on break, but then I just enjoyed my break with my family instead. Katria chided me for not updating in over a month, and since it is a 3 day weekend, I have some time to write one about my Christmas break.

SNOW
We had a white Christmas! That never happens in Dallas! Kyle came and spent Christmas with my family. It was the first Christmas we have spent together and it was so nice to be able to be with him and my family.

Bridesmaids Dresses
MOH Rachel came to Dallas and we spent a good time looking for bridesmaid dresses. Let me ten you something, most bridesmaids dresses are hideous! Its so sad. Why would a bride want something hideous on her friends? The task is made harder because we are looking for non strapless dresses. They are also ridiculously expensive...insert comment on the wedding industry robbing families of money...The hunt is still on.

Wedding Stuff
We have a venue! We will be having our reception at ranch my house. We looked at some hotels, but I really felt like the ranch fit our personalities better. Plus the hotels were so cliche and boring. The contract has been signed and I can't wait! Now we have to finish the guest list, find a DJ, photographer, etc.

Tv shows
I think I have mentioned before how I love bad Tv shows. over break I got caught up on Gossip Girl. Including the series finale. Gossip Girl is such a horrid tv show with no connection to reality at all, even on the upper east side of NYC I'm sure. But the clothes are so amazing, it's worth watching if only for that. The finale wasn't amazing, but it did reveal who gossip girl was. And put everyone conveniently with who they should be with. I'm always mad when writers don't let everyone be with the right person in the end. Now I have to watch the series again to see if it actually makes sense with that person as GG or if the writers just went crazy.

My new obsession is Downton Abbey-And it's amazing. Not in my awful tv show way, in an award winning tv show way. Go watch it. Just don't look up your favorite characters on wikipedia. The show has already shown in England, so there are a lot of spoilers... sad. Yes, I speak from experience.

Books
Over break I read two books by Kate Morton. My favorite one was The Forgotten Garden. Very good read with an unexpected twist at the end. The other one, the Distant Hours, was a little darker, but still very good. If you take my advice and watch Downton Abbey, you will also like these books. It was nice to be able to read for fun. I also got an ipad for Christmas and read my first electronic book. I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing like the smell and feel of a new, or old, book. One that you've never opened, but you just know you will love. Or an old friend, worn to pieces by you, stained with your tears over its stories. But I didn't mind reading on an ipad, they are still the same stories, and often cheaper. Don't worry print books, I'll never fully give you up.

MOST EXCITING NEWS EVER.
lam an Aunt! Because my first class got canceled I got to stay in Dallas when My sister-in-law had her beautiful baby girl. Unfortunately It took all dah for her to be born and that evening I had to go to Church for a class so I can be Baby's Godmother, so I only got to see her for a minute that day and about an hour the next. But l am going to Dallas this weekend for her Baptism. She is tiny and perfect and we are quite smitten with her.

So that's what I've been doing with my life over break. Now that school has begun again It is back to law school books, briefs, and outlines.
